A Phelan man is arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle

INCIDENT: POSSESSION OF A STOLEN VEHICLE
LOCATION: Smoke Tree Road/ Riggins Road, Phelan
SUSPECT: Robert Hallum, 23 years-old, resident of Phelan
VICTIM: 45-year-old male, resident of Phelan
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, Deputy Joseph Mora took a report of a stolen vehicle in the 6500 block of Lindero Street in Phelan. According to the owner of the vehicle, someone stole his 1996 green Honda Accord from his driveway sometime between 8:00am and 2:00pm on October 31, 2018.The victim was able to provide deputies with the license plate number and a good description of the vehicle.
On Thursday, November 1, 2018, at 2:28 pm, Deputy Mora saw the suspect, later identified as Robert Hallum, driving the stolen Honda Accord near Smoke Tree Road and Riggins Road in Phelan. Hallum attempted to flee from Mora, driving erratically through desert areas. The vehicle became stuck in a soft dirt embankment and Hallum exited the vehicle. Hallum ran from the vehicle but was quickly taken into custody without incident.
Robert Hallum was booked at the High Desert Detention Center where he is currently being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
