Large Scale Public Safety Training Exercise - Today, Friday, November 2, in the 6500 block of Dumbarton Circle.

Today, November 2, 2018, from approximately 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., the Fremont Police Department is facilitating a large scale joint training exercise in the 6500 block of Dumbarton Circle.

The training is primarily taking place within the interior of vacant buildings in a business park owned by Facebook. The training involves a large number of personnel and volunteers from the Fremont Police Department, Fremont Fire Department, City of Fremont Emergency Services, ALCO Fire, Paramedics Plus, and Facebook.  Limited occasional pyrotechnics will be used to simulate the noise of an incident.  Police and fire vehicles as well as ambulances will be utilized at the entrance of the campus however, they will not be utilizing sirens during the course of the training.  In preparation for this large scale training exercise, officers have tested the noise level in the area and we do not anticipate any disruptions to adjacent business operations.

The purpose of this specialized training is to enhance the ability of the involved agencies to jointly respond to major acts of violence, specifically those involving an active shooter and/or dangerous intruder. A large component of the training involves the delivery of field trauma care during high risk situations, unified command and rescue operations.   This partnership is of great benefit to those we serve and is a core component of our mission to provide the highest level of public safety to our community.

Training safety during this exercise is of the utmost importance to us. The training site will be secure and not be open to the public.   We appreciate your understanding and have structured the training to limit the impact on the surrounding community.
