Update of Clay Bank Road Collision
***UPDATE***
The intersection of Clay Bank Road and Quail Drive is now open. The intersection was closed just after 5:30am when a solo vehicle traveling north on Clay Bank Road struck a signal pole. Both occupants of the car had to be extricated by the Fairfield Fire Department. They were transported to a local trauma center with life threatening injuries. The road was closed while the Traffic Unit collected evidence and processed the scene to investigate the cause.
Speed is believed to be a factor in the collision, and the Traffic Unit is investigating whether or not drugs and/or alcohol were involved. Both occupants are still in critical condition. Their names are not being released at this time, but the driver is a 33 year old male Fairfield resident and the passenger is a 43 year old female Fairfield resident.
