Incident: Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Crash
Location: Route 112 at Route 347, Port Jefferson Station
Date/Time: Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at approximately 7:30 a.m.
Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured a bicyclist in Port Jefferson Station this morning.
Juan Bonilla was riding a bicycle southbound on Route 112 when he attempted to cross the intersection at Route 347 and was struck by a westbound 2009 Nissan Rogue at approximately 7:30 a.m.
Bonilla, 26, of Port Jefferson Station, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan, Alissa Cohen, 33, of Sound Beach, was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to call Sixth Squad detectives at 631-854-8652.
