The Teaneck Police Department urges motorists to please be extra cautious when driving on Halloween. Watch for children walking on roadways, medians and curbs. Enter and exit driveways and alleys carefully. At twilight and later in the evening, be alert for children in dark clothing.
Parents are asked to review Halloween safety tips with children. Instruct children to travel only in familiar, well-lit areas and to avoid trick-or-treating alone. Tell them not to eat any treats until they return home, and stress to never enter a stranger's home. If children are allowed out after dark, have them carry a flashlight or a glow stick and fasten reflective tape to their costumes and bags to make sure they are visible.
