MPD was just notified of large civilian gatherings on the sides of the roadways near Kennestone Hospital. Crowds have gathered for a ticket give-away for an event tomorrow. Unfortunately this has brought people into the city via car, with no good central place to park. Civilians are now gathered on Church Steet, Cherokee Street, Margaret Street and all surrounding side roads.
From what we understand, the tickets will be given away over the next few hours. Unfortunately this means all traffic in the areas of Church and Cherokee between Tower and North Marietta Parkway should expect delays until after 5:00 PM today.
MPD will continue to monitor roadways in the area to ensure safe passage of all emergency vehicles.
