Advisory

NJDEP SPECIAL MEETING - Monday November 5th about Compressor Station off Rt 27. Franklin High School 6pm.

SPECIAL MEETING – New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) has scheduled a Public Hearing for Compressor Station 206 for MONDAY NOVEMBER 5th.

South Brunswick Task Force is opposed to this project based on its impact on the community and risks it presents.

The Public Hearing is focused on the Freshwater Wetlands Permit Application needed for the Compressor Station 206 project and pipelines in Old Bridge, Sayreville, and through Raritan Bay.

Williams/Transco, a pipeline transport company, wants to build 32 miles of pipeline to tap into existing lines to transport natural gas from York County, PA to Rockaway, NY. This pipeline would travel through Somerset and Middlesex counties and then tunnel under the Raritan Bay where it would provide additional gas to New York City residents.

The project will also include a new 32,000 horsepower Compressor Station 206 to be built in Franklin Township, on the South Brunswick border. The compressor station would include two natural gas-powered, turbine-driven compressors whose purpose is to maintain enormous pressures on the gas as it travels through the pipeline.
