*** Tip of the Week: Halloween Safety ***

Halloween is here, and many of us will be out and about with our families. Here are some tips to help you have a safe one.

1. If you have younger children, assure they are properly supervised by a responsible adult.

2. When going door-to-door, try to stay in neighborhoods that are familiar to you and that you feel safe in.

3. Use extreme caution when crossing the street, and use crosswalks when available.

4. Cary flashlights and wear bright or reflective clothing when possible to make yourself more visible.

5. Once you are done for the night, thoroughly inspect your child’s candy. Dispose of any items that are not sealed, or have damaged or punctured wrappers. Also dispose of any home baked goods or fresh fruits as these are easily tampered with.

6. Do NOT consume any candy or food items while you are still out going door-to-door. Wait until you are home and you can inspect them in adequate light.

7. If you are driving, slow down and be extremely cautious when in residential areas.

8. If you are going to be attending a party and consuming alcohol or marijuana, assure you have a designated driver, or arrange for a safe ride home.

Take care, and be safe.
