*Update* #LASD South Los Angeles Deputy Involved Shooting, 10600 Block of South Burin Avenue, Lennox

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a deputy-involved shooting. The incident occurred on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at approximately 3:30 a.m. on the 10600 block of South Burin Avenue, Lennox.

Homicide detectives have learned South Los Angeles deputies were patrolling the area when a concerned citizen flagged the deputies down.  The citizen advised the deputies of several males drinking alcohol near the location. Deputies responded to the location to investigate the incident.  As deputies arrived at the location, they attempted to make contact with the group of males, when one of the men walked away from the group. Deputies tried to detain the male adult who was walking away when the suspect produced an assault rifle type weapon at which time a deputy-involved shooting occurred.

The suspect was struck several times in the lower torso area by gunfire.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital and is listed in fair condition.

At this time, it appears only one deputy fired his duty weapon several times at the suspect.

It has not been determined if the suspect discharged his firearm during the shooting. The suspect’s firearm was recovered at the scene.

No further injuries have been reported.

There is no further information at this time, and the investigation is active and ongoing.
