IMPD East District Officers, along with detectives, net substantial amount of narcotics and cash

INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers investigating a shots fired call, leads to a substantial amount of drugs and cash being taken off the streets of Indianapolis.

Just before 8:40 p.m. on 10/20/2018, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the 1300 blk of North Ewing on shots fired.  The caller stated they heard shots fired from a house in the 1300 blk of North Ewing and observed 4-5 black males flee, leaving in a white impala carrying black trash bags.  Once Officers arrived on scene, they conducted a protective sweep of the residence.  Officers observed in plain view, narcotics and cash.  Officers requested the on-call narcotics detective.  Detectives responded and began the process of applying for a search warrant. Middle shift officers along with late shift officers assisted in securing the residence until a warrant could be granted.

Once the search warrant was granted a detailed search was completed.  Detectives recovered the following:

  • $479,982 Cash
  • 4 ¼ Kilos of Cocaine
  • 1 lb. Marijuana
  • 1 oz. of Meth
  • 1 Handgun

There were no arrests. This was a combined effort between the community and police which helped get dangerous narcotics off the streets of Indianapolis. Narcotics dealing is often associated with violence, which will not be tolerated. This is another example that shows when the police and community work together, we can have a significant impact on crime in their neighborhood.
