SUMMARY:
On Thursday, October 25, 2018, at 12:00 p.m., deputies responded to a call of shots fired at the Winco store at Jess Ranch Marketplace. Winco loss prevention officers reported a male and female were in the store with an infant in a baby carrier. They were observed placing items in the baby carrier and then left the store without paying for the items. Loss prevention officers stopped the couple as they left the store, at which time the male produced a handgun and fired a couple of shots. Loss prevention officers began fighting with the male, later identified as Charles Scott, and ultimately detained and unarmed him. Additional Winco staff detained the female, identified as Latoya Moore, as she ran into the parking lot carrying the baby.

Deputies arrived and took custody of both subjects. Charles Scott was transported to a local hospital for injuries suffered during the fight with loss prevention officers. Latoya Moore had no injuries.

The infant had no visible injuries but was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
