Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian in Bay Shore last night.
 
A female pedestrian was in the roadway of Fifth Avenue when she was struck by a 2018 Toyota HRC that was traveling southbound on Fifth Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. The driver of the Toyota, Derrick Clarke, 38, of Bay Shore, remained on the scene and was not injured in the crash.
 
The woman, whose identity has not yet been confirmed, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The Toyota was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Third Squad at (631) 854-8352.
