Updated Information Regarding Robbery in Mokelumne Hill Yesterday

The following is to update information regarding the reported robbery in Mokelumne Hill yesterday (10-23-18):
On 10-23-18 at approx. 0930 hours Deputies responded to the intersection of Highway 26 and Campo Seco Turnpike Road in Mokelumne Hill where a female victim reported that her vehicle tire had been shot after she followed robbery suspects from her residence on Jojoba Lane. The victim told deputies that she woke up to a male suspect inside her house. She reported that he took several hundred dollars and fled along with several other subjects in a green colored Mustang. The victim along with another person left the residence and began searching for the suspect’s vehicle in the area. The victim located and followed the suspect’s vehicle to the area of Highway 26 and Campo Seco Turnpike Road in Mokelumne Hill at which point both vehicles stopped. The male suspect fired a single shot at the victim’s vehicle, striking the tire and disabling the victim’s vehicle. (Attached picture of the victim’s vehicle tire).

A Be on the Lookout alert was sent by Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch to surrounding jurisdictions. A California Highway Patrol Officer in Amador County stopped the suspect vehicle on Highway 88 near the Sunset View Cemetery outside of Jackson. One male subject fled from the vehicle stop while the other two subjects in the green Mustang were arrested. Calaveras County Sheriff’s Detectives responded to the traffic stop location in Amador County for further investigation. Heather Grimes (age 36 of West Point) and James Coit (age 52 of Mokelumne Hill) were arrested and booked in to the Calaveras County Jail on charges of burglary, robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and criminal conspiracy with $275,000 bail. Grimes has been additionally charged with violation of probation and Coit was additionally booked for an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Sheriff’s Detectives served a search warrant yesterday at the scene of the robbery, collecting evidence and working to verify information regarding this case. The Sheriff’s Office was informed that the third suspect who fled from the vehicle stop yesterday in Amador County has been arrested by the California Highway Patrol in Stockton. That suspect has been identified as 31 year old Michael Sauve from Lodi, CA. Details of his arrest will be released when they become available.

The Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a reported robbery that occurred this morning at a residence near the town of Mokelumne Hill in Calaveras County. This is an active investigation and more information will be provided when it is available. The preliminary information on the case is as follows: On 10-23-18 at approx. 0930 hours a 32 year old female victim called the Sheriff’s Office to report a robbery at her residence. The victim reported she woke up to having several people inside her house and the suspects took money from her. The victim also reported that her vehicle was shot at by one of the suspects during the incident. Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch sent Be on the Lookout information regarding the suspect’s vehicle to surrounding agencies and multiple deputies along with officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to the area. The Sheriff’s Office was notified that law enforcement units in Amador County stopped the suspect’s vehicle just outside of Jackson, CA in Amador County. Two suspects have been arrested from that vehicle stop. Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Detectives are conducting an active investigation in to the incident and more information will be provided when it is available.
