Murder suspect commits suicide several days killing two men in Hesperia

LOCATION: 11500 Block of Hesperia Road, Hesperia
SUSPECT: Leslie “Lee” Wienke, a 50-year-old male resident of Barstow
VICTIM(S): Travon Holiday, 33-years-old, a resident of Hesperia
Anthony Gossett, 59-years-old, resident of Hesperia
SUMMARY:
On October 13, 2018, at about 9:00 p.m., deputies from the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station received a 911 call regarding a shooting. When deputies arrived on scene, they located victim Travon Holiday deceased outside of an apartment, and he appeared to have been shot. A second victim, Anthony Gossett, was found by deputies behind the apartment building suffering from gunshot injuries.
Gossett was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital and then transported by air ambulance to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. Lifesaving measures were taken by medical personnel but were unsuccessful, and Gossett was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division-Homicide Detail were contacted and took over the investigation. Through the investigation, it was determined Leslie “Lee” Wienke, shot and killed both victims for unknown reasons and fled the scene. Once Detectives identified Wienke as the suspect in this double murder, Wienke’s information was entered into the nationwide system as a murder suspect.
On Thursday, October 18, 2018, a Nevada Department of Public Safety Officer located Leslie Wienke deceased in a parked vehicle on Interstate 15, about 90 miles north of Las Vegas. Las Vegas Metro Police Department responded and assumed the investigation and notified Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives. It appeared he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
