Youth Access to Alcohol Operation results in two store clerks being cited for furnishing alcohol to a minor.

On 10/21/2018, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., Novato police officers conducted a minor alcohol access prevention operation funded by Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC).  An underage decoy(s) entered ABC licensed businesses and attempted to purchase alcohol.  Of the eight ABC licensed establishments, six were successful in not furnishing alcohol to the minor decoy.  They were Lucky, CVS, La Chuladu Market, Mike's Liquors, Alco's Famous Deli and 7-Eleven.  Two ABC licensed establishments, Rojas Market (1221 Grant Ave) and Chevron (Located at 7474 Redwood Blvd), were unsuccessful when their store clerks sold alcohol to the minor decoy.  Both clerks were issued misdemeanor citations for the violations and will have to appear in court.  Also, both businesses could face administrative actions from the Alcoholic Beverage Control for the violation.

In addition to the attempting to purchase alcohol from ABC licensed establishments, the minor decoy asked 19 people to purchase alcohol at three different locations.  Of these 19 people, none agreed to purchase alcohol for the minor decoys.

The Novato Police Department would like to thank the community, and the Alcoholic Beverage Control, for its continual support to prevent youth access to alcohol.
