Petaluma Fire Department may be conducting a control burn at Ellis Creek Water Treatment Facility on Friday.

The Petaluma Fire Department may conduct controlled burning exercises on Friday, October 19th during the daytime hours on several small plots of grasslands within the Ellis Creek Water Treatment Facility area that are always closed to the public. Smoke around Lakeville Hwy at the City limits or near Shollenberger Park may be visible at times throughout the day.  This control burn assists new fire recruits with real-world wildfire training experience as well as assists the Petaluma Environmental Services Division at the Ellis Creek Water Treatment Facility with vegetation management and the prevention of large accumulations of vegetation that create potential for large uncontrolled fires.  Please do not call 911 if you see smoke in that area on Friday.
