On October 16, 2018, at 8:53 a.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch sent officers to the 12000 block of East 100 South to do a welfare check on a resident. Upon arriving officers discovered that a disturbance had occurred shortly before their arrival in which 49 year old Stacy James of Oakland City allegedly attempted to stab another person with a screwdriver. Sgt. Bruce Vanoven conducted an investigation into the allegations and at the conclusion of his investigation Ms. James was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Ms. James was charged with Battery and Criminal Recklessness. She remains in custody on a $750 bond.

Assisting Sgt. Vanoven in his investigation was Deputy Jennifer Loesch and Oakland City Police Chief Tim Gaines.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
