Sheriff's Office wins two IACP Awards
Last week the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was proud to accept two prestigious awards from the International Association of Chiefs of Police at the annual IACP Conference and Expedition. This conference which hosts thousands of law enforcement professionals from around the world is one of the largest law enforcement events. The IACP honors law enforcement agencies and officers that exhibit leadership, excellence, and professionalism throughout the year. The different categories nominated for an award include Community Safety, Emerging Issues, Investigations, Leadership, National Security, Transnational Crime, Transportation Safety, 40 Under 40, Police Officer of the Year, Trooper of the Year, and Indian County Officer of the Year. Sheriff Rick DiBasilio was proud to accept the IACP Chief David Cameron Leadership in Environmental Crimes Award in regards to the success of last year’s Operation Terminus which investigated groups and actors for violations related to the pollution of California’s watersheds and river systems. Calaveras County Behavioral Health Liaison Brenda Hanley accepted the IACP Leadership in Human and Civil Rights Award on behalf of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office for the multi-agency collaborative partnership that addresses our police response to incidents involving people with mental illness.
This marks the first time that the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office has ever received an award from the IACP.
