INCIDENT: STOLEN VEHICLE WITH PREVIOUS CONVICTION / FELON IN POSSESSION OF AMMUNITION

SUSPECT(S): Roger Frank Flores, 26-year-old, Transient of San Bernardino
VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY:
Deputies from the Highland Police Department were patrolling the area near Baseline Street and Sterling Avenue when they came across a suspicious vehicle. A sheriff's sergeant followed the 2005 Dodge pickup truck as the driver drove through the parking lot of a commercial business complex and parked. The driver quickly exited the pickup and went into a 24-hour laundromat. A records check on the license plate showed the pickup truck was reported stolen out of Yucaipa on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.

Deputies detained and arrested Rodger Frank Flores as he came out of the laundromat. Flores claimed he did not know it was stolen. Flores had an arrest warrant for evading a peace officer. He has at least one prior felony conviction and is prohibited from possessing ammunition. Ammunition was found during the investigation. Flores was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center.

Flores is on felony probation for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle with Prior Convictions out of Riverside County. He faces charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle with priors, Vehicle Theft, and Felon in Possession of Ammunition. Flores’ bail was set at $75,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 15 and 16, 2018. The new criminal charges against Flores will be reviewed by the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office.
