PG&E Public Safety Power Shut-off Program May Affect Lake County

There has been a lot of recent attention to the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff Program, due to the recent Red Flag Warning throughout much of Northern California. PG&E is currently considering shutting off power to some areas in counties including Lake County to reduce the risk of wildfires occurring. A press release from PG&E discussing this potential shutoff as well as locations where they might occur can be found here: https://www.pgecurrents.com/2018/10/13/pge-may-proactively-turn-off-power-for-safety-in-portions-of-12-counties/

PG&E customers are urged to ensure that their contact information is correct so that they may be notified by PG&E of future Public Safety Shutoff events at https://www.pge.com/en_US/safety/emergency-preparedness/natural-disaster/wildfires/public-safety-power-shutoff-notifications.page?WT.pgeac=Wildfire_Community-PSPS. PG&E should notify customers prior to such events occurring. For more information regarding PG&E's Community Wildfire Safety Program and Public Safety Shutoff please contact PG&E directly. Lake County or Sheriff's OES do not have any control over PG&E's Public Safety Shutoff Program.

Lake County Sheriff's OES urges all organizations, businesses, and residents to be prepared for future shutoffs and power outages including those that may be caused by upcoming storms this winter. To learn more about preparing for a power outage, please visit https://www.ready.gov/power-outages

  • Lake County Sheriff's OES would like to remind everyone that we are still currently under a Red Flag Warning for all of Lake County. Additionally, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Advisory through tomorrow (10/15) for all of Lake County. Please visit the NWS Sacramento website (www.weather.gov/sto) for the most current weather forecasts and updates on watches and warnings.  Activites that may produce sparks (mowing, welding, grinding...) should be curtailed during this event.
