Flash Flood Warning until 11:30AM

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Southwestern McDowell County in western North Carolina... Northwestern Rutherford County in western North Carolina... Eastern Henderson County in western North Carolina... Western Polk County in western North Carolina... Southeastern Buncombe County in western North Carolina...

* Until 1130 AM EDT Thursday.

* At 528 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy tropical rainfall continuing to fall across the warned area. Localized rainfall amounts since yesterday had been 2 to 3 inches, and several more inches of rain is likely to accumulate this morning. Increasing high water conditions and developing flooding along creeks and streams in select the headwaters of the Catawba, Swannanoa, Broad, Green and Pacolet River Basins is likely.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Hendersonville, Columbus, Black Mountain, Flat Rock, Mountain Home, Laurel Park, Tryon, Lake Lure, Old Fort and Saluda.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HENDERSON, NC ... BUNCOMBE, NC ... MCDOWELL, NC ... POLK, NC ... RUTHERFORD, NC

Instructions:

Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not attempt to cross water-covered roadways, bridges, or low-level crossings. Only a few inches of rapidly flowing water can carry away your vehicle. It is not worth the risk. Please TURN AROUND, DON'T DROWN.
