Two men arrested for kidnapping and carjacking

On September 18, 2018, Fairfield patrol officers responded to a report of a car-jacking and kidnapping that had just occurred.  Officers contacted the victim near the intersection of Travis Bl and N. Texas St.  The victim, a 25-year old Fairfield resident, told the officers that while attempting to return lost property to a co-worker, that co-worker and a second suspect forced him into the passenger seat of his vehicle and began to drive away with him.  The victim, fearing for his life, was able to jump from the moving vehicle and run to safety where he then contacted the Fairfield Police Department.  He was able to provide the name of both suspects to the patrol officers and pointed out the general vicinity where he believed at least one of the suspects lived.

Detectives from the Investigations Unit took over the investigation.  After re-interviewing the victim and searching social media platforms detectives were able to identify both suspects and determine the correct address for both of them.  On Saturday, October 6, 2018, a search warrant was served in the 800 block of Oregon St.  Due to the nature of the crimes the Fairfield Police Department SWAT Team and Crisis Negotiation Team was utilized to serve the early morning warrant.  Working together those two teams were able to safely remove the occupants from the residence.

During the service of the warrant, both suspects were located inside the residence and taken into custody without incident.  Daniel Valdovinos, a 28-year-old Fairfield resident, was booked into Solano County Jail on charges of kidnapping, carjacking, being an accessory to a crime, and being an out of compliance sex offender.  Juan Muniz-Baron, a 27-year-old Fairfield resident, was booked on charges of carjacking, kidnapping, and being an accessory to a crime.  Booking photos are not available at this time.
