Man Apprehended After Attempting To Enter Courthouse With Two Guns And An Alleged Message From God. Sheriff Hill
The Sheriff’s Office is charged with protecting the streets and manning the jail housing the county’s most dangerous criminals. But just as demanding is the protection of the courts from dangerous individuals as well. Just how dangerous a Courthouse can be was brought to light today when a man identified as Darrell Anthony Jones attempted to enter the courthouse while armed with a handgun. When he was asked to empty his pockets Jones took off and fled outside of the building. A deputy pursued him and observed Jones with a gun in his hand and ordered him to drop the weapon at gun point. Jones complied and was taken into custody. When searched, another handgun was found on Jones by Sheriff’s Deputies.
When Jones was asked why he came to the courthouse with two guns, he replied that he was bringing a message from God, and that the message was death. The Sheriff explained to Jones how fortunate he was that his Deputies did not send him to actually talk to God today.
Jones’s background in all aspects are being investigated, and in addition to criminal charges he is being mentally evaluated while facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail.
