Advisory

Weather outlook for Clayton County. Please click link form more information. Sheriff Victor Hill.

Per Fire Chief/EMA Director Landry Merkison:

Summary: The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of Georgia, including Clayton County and all of its cities. This is due to Tropical Storm Michael forecasted to become a hurricane today.

Day 1 – Today and Tonight: Isolated thunderstorms are possible across much of north and central Georgia this afternoon into tonight. The main hazard will be occasional lightning.

Days 2 through 7: Tropical Storm Michael is forecast to become a hurricane today and eventually move across the central to South Georgia area Wednesday night and Thursday. However, please remember, the cone of error is as far north as the Atlanta metro and Gainesville areas. The impacts will depend on the actual track of Michael, but at this time, the primary hazards will be strong gusty winds, heavy rainfall and weak short-lived tornadoes, favoring areas of east and central Georgia.

The Clayton County Office of Emergency Management & Homeland Security will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates on impacts to the county. Please be advised that forecasts can often change regularly as the storm gets closer to the state. See the attached document for rainfall amounts and hurricane tracking.
