Domestic violence assault suspect arrested after standoff near Mattawa
MATTAWA, Wash. (07OCT2018) – The Moses Lake Regional Tactical
Response Team (aka TRT) on Saturday evening arrested a 55-year-old Mattawa man after a standoff near Mattawa.
Deputies were investigating the Wednesday assault of a 50-year-old woman who claimed Samuel Gonzalez stabbed her in the face with a broken cane, and determined Gonzalez’s actions constituted probable cause for arrest for first degree assault.
After learning on Saturday that Gonzalez was at a home in the 14000 block of Road 25-Southwest, TRT and deputies went to the home and negotiated Gonzalez’s eventual surrender. When Gonzalez’s level of consciousness decreased, officers feared he had overdosed on opiates and they administered Narcan (Naloxone). Gonzalez was transported by ambulance to Quincy Valley Medical Center and later transferred to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee.
No law enforcement officers were injured.
