Traffic stop leads to arrest of Evansville man for driving without ever having received a license.

On October 6, 2018, at 10:25 a.m. Sgt. Bruce Vanoven conducted a traffic stop on a Silver 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada for speeding on Interstate 69 near the 32 mile marker. Upon approaching the vehicle Sgt. Vanoven identified the driver as 27 year old Stephen McKinney Jr of Evansville, Indiana. During a roadside investigation Sgt. Vanoven ran Mr. McKinney through the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and discovered that Mr. McKinney had never been issued a valid operator`s license. At that point Sgt. Vanoven placed Mr. McKinney into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Mr. McKinney was charged with Operator Never Licensed. He remains in custody on a $450 bond.

Assisting Sgt. Vanoven in his investigation was Oakland City Police Chief Tim Gaines.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law
