Traffic stop leads to the arrest of two criminal street gang members for felony probation and parole violations

INCIDENT: PC 29800(A)(1) Felon in Possession of a Firearm, PC 30305(a)(1) Felon in Possession of Ammunition
LOCATION: E. Highland Ave/ Highland Ave, San Bernardino
SUSPECT(S): Martin Loaiza, 47-year-old resident of Lynwood
Edward Martinez, 39-year-old resident of Los Angeles
SUMMARY: On October 4, 2018, Deputy E. Fakhoury, from the Sheriff's Central Station, conducted a traffic stop and contacted the driver Martin Loaiza and passenger Edward Martinez. Loaiza is on active felony probation and Martinez is on active parole. Fakhoury searched Loaiza's vehicle and found two loaded semi-automatic handguns. One of the firearms was reported stolen out of Glendale. Both Loaiza and Martinez had access to the firearms, and both are previously convicted felons with affiliations with a criminal street gang. Loaiza and Martinez were both arrested for PC 29800(A)(1) Felon in Possession of a Firearm and PC 30305(a)(1) Felon in Possession of Ammunition and booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
