Who: Sheriff Jim McDonnell, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department; Captain Denis Cremins, Burbank Police Department; Chief Carl Povilaitis, Glendale Police Department; Captain Mat Igan, Glendora Police Department; Chief Robert Fager, Hawthorne Police Department; Deputy Chief Louis Perez, Inglewood Police Department; Chief Nick Paz, La Verne Police Department; Chief Steven K. Zipperman, Los Angeles School Police Department; Chief Tony Lee, UCLA Police Department; Captain Robert Saousa, Vernon Police Department.
What: Sheriff McDonnell will be joined by chiefs from participating agencies in presenting 84 diplomas to graduates of Academy Class 431. There will be 21 female and 63 male graduates.
When: Friday, October 5, 2018
Formal class inspection to begin at 5:00 P.M.
Graduation ceremonies to begin at 6:00 P.M.
Where: Biscailuz Center Training Academy

Media Note: Academy Class 431 is a largely international collection of backgrounds, reflective of the vast array of cultures found within Los Angeles County. Of the 84 graduating recruits, 7 were born outside the United States in the countries of Armenia; Bosnia; Herzegovina; El Salvador; Haiti; Mexico; South Korea; Vietnam, recruits lived abroad in the countries of 14; and 43 recruits speak a language other than English, including Arabic, Armenian, Korean, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
These graduates bring with them a large source of higher education, service experience in the armed forces, and backgrounds in law enforcement, and many come from families with a tradition of serving in law enforcement.
The graduating recruits are willing to participate in media interviews.
