#LASD Burg-Rob Task Force Arrests Southern Calif "Knock-Knock" Burg Crew San Fernando Valley Looking for Poss Victims

On September 24, 2018, at approximately 3:00 PM, detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s LASD), Major Crimes Bureau, Burglary-Robbery Task Force (BRTF), working with detectives from the Simi Valley Police Department, observed four suspects commit a residential burglary in North Hollywood.  The detectives saw the suspects, who were in a black Mercedes Benz sedan, driving slowly through neighborhoods in North Hollywood, Panorama City and eventually into the Sun Valley area.  Detectives located the Mercedes Benz parked in front of a home on Burton St.  A short time later, detectives watched the suspects emerge from the front of the residence carrying handfuls of property.  They quickly entered the waiting Mercedes Benz, and attempted to leave the area.

As the suspects began to leave, BRTF detectives and uniformed BRTF tactical deputies initiated a high-risk detention of the suspects and their vehicle.  Officers from the LAPD Mission Community Station also responded and assisted with the detention.  Four adults were detained inside the vehicle.  Stolen property, including jewelry, designer handbags, electronic equipment, and cash, valued in excess of $7,500, was recovered within the vehicle and on the suspects.  The recovered property was confirmed to be stolen from the residence where the suspects were seen leaving.

The suspects were arrested and booked at the LASD Santa Clarita Station.

During interrogation, one of the suspects admitted to committing the North Hollywood burglary.  BRTF detectives believed these suspects were likely related to numerous recent Los Angeles and San Bernardino County residential “Knock-Knock” type burglaries.

Suspect Tyler Williams, MB/23, of Lancaster, Bk#5431-106, was booked on charges of Residential Burglary (459 PC) and is currently held in custody with a bail of $50,000.  He has several previous arrests for burglary, robbery, and thefts.

Suspect Jermel White, MB/18, of Los Angeles, Bk#5431-062, was booked on charges of Residential Burglary (459 PC), and also held in custody with a bail of $50,000.

Suspect Jermain White, MB/18, of Los Angeles, Bk#5431-060, was booked on charges of Residential Burglary (459 PC), and also held in custody with a bail of $50,000.

Suspect Antonio Houston, MB/18, of Los Angeles, Bk#5431-118, was booked on charges of Residential Burglary (459 PC), and also held in custody with a bail of $50,000.

Based on the above arrests, along with the detective’s observations on Monday, all four suspects were charged today in San Fernando Court, with two counts of attempted burglary, conspiracy, and residential burglary.

LASD BRTF Detectives are handling the criminal filing and ongoing investigation of this burglary crew.  With assistance from Simi Valley Police Department detectives, we will determine if these suspects were in fact involved in additional recent residential burglaries occurring in the Los Angeles and San Bernardino County areas.

The investigation and arrest of this residential burglary crew is an example of the ongoing cooperation and collaboration between the LASD, Simi Valley Police Department, and the Los Angeles Police Departments, as each agency is committed to impacting the Southern California wide residential burglary epidemic.  The LASD Major Crimes BRTF works closely and consistently with most Southern California agencies, in its mission to identify, investigate, and arrest organized burglary and robbery suspects.

The LASD MCB BRTF was formed over eight years ago to combat the ever-increasing trend of organized crews who are committing daytime residential burglaries.  Typically known as “Knock-Knock” burglars, these crews, often formed by gang members, utilize high-end luxury vehicles and rental cars to blend into middle class and affluent neighborhoods where they break into homes and businesses, ransacking and stealing valuables such as cash, jewelry, and weapons.   The MCB BRTF works closely in support of all LASD Station’s detective bureaus, as well as other Southern California law enforcement agencies.  Residents and business owners are reminded to secure their properties, be aware of suspicious and unusual persons or vehicles, and to alert their local law enforcement immediately if suspicious activity is observed.

Residents should call 911 if a life-threatening emergency is detected and/or their local police business line if a suspicious person or vehicle is observed.  The MCB BRTF can be contacted via e-mail at [email protected] for tips, questions, or concerns.

If you feel you have been a victim of this type of burglary or have any information about this incident, you are encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Major Crimes Detective Kurinij at (562) 946-7187.  If you prefer to provide information anonymously, you may call "Crime Stoppers" by dialing (800) 222-TIPS (8477), use your smartphone by downloading the “P3 Tips” Mobile APP on Google play or the Apple App Store or by using the website http://lacrimestoppers.org
