Press Release: Vehicle Burglaries and Motor Vehicle Thefts
DATE/TIME: September 26, 2018 early morning hours
LOCATION: Wayside Section of the Township
NARRATIVE:
On September 26th, 2018 during the early morning hours a group of thieves targeted neighborhoods in the Wayside section of the township. Their goal was to burglarize and steal motor vehicles. Exterior surveillance footage from several residences revealed what appeared to be several males entering unlocked vehicles.
Our investigation revealed a common theme; all of the vehicles that were entered and stolen were unlocked. We urge our residents to lock their cars, remove the keys and valuables. A total of six vehicles were reported to be burglarized and another four were stolen. Two of the four vehicles have been recovered; one was found abandoned in Ocean Township and the second vehicle was recovered in Newark, New Jersey.
