Marquis Moultrie, 23, of Burton arrested today on multiple charges, including illegal drugs and firearms.
Early this afternoon, Sheriff's Office investigators observed wanted subject, 23-year-old Marquis Moultrie, driving a gold Honda Accord in the area of Glaze Drive in Burton. Investigators activated their emergency equipment—blue lights—to conduct a traffic stop on Moultrie. Moultrie pulled over to the side of the road, got out of the Honda and fled on foot. Investigators pursued Moultrie on foot and apprehended him a short time later.
Marquis Moultrie was placed under arrest on active warrants—some dating back to 2015—for Pointing and Presenting a Firearm, Petit Larceny, Assault and Battery 1st degree, Burglary 1st Degree, Burglary 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny, Probation Violation, Failure to Stop for Blue Lights and Fleeing to Evade Arrest. Investigators discovered that in addition to being wanted in Beaufort County, Moultrie was wanted for aggravated robbery by law enforcement authorities in Clarksville, Tennessee.
After Marquis Moultrie's arrest, investigators searched the gold Honda Accord he had been driving. Inside the Honda, investigators located and seized a distribution weight of marijuana, a handgun and an AK-47 assault-style rifle. The handgun and AK-47 were both loaded and had extended capacity magazines.
Marquis Moultrie was transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center and incarcerated. In addition to the existing arrest warrants, investigators charged Moultrie with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun and Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person. Investigators also charged Moultrie with Fugitive from Justice regarding his outstanding arrest warrant in Clarksville, Tennessee.
At the time of this advisory, Marquis Moultrie had not received a bond hearing.
