Two Vehicle Head on Collision

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke, reports that on 09/20/2018 at approximately 1714 hours his Deputies were called out to investigate a personal injury accident that occurred at the intersection of US-12 and Baldwin Praire Rd in Porter Township, Cass County Michigan. Kyle Kauffman (22 yrs old Vandalia Michigan resident) was driving southbound on Baldwin Praire, and came to a stop at the intersection of Baldwin Praire and US-12. Kyle then pulled out in front of oncoming traffic on US-12 being struck head on by Alexander Carthans (35 yrs old Bristol, Indiana resident) who was headed eastbound on US-12. There was one other passenger in the vehicle with Alexander who was Christopher, full identity not known at this time, who obtained minor injuries and was transported to Elkhart Memorial Hospital by Sepsa Ambulance Personnel. Seat belts were worn during the time of this crash. Alcohol is believed not to be a factor.
