Motor Vehicle Crash

On September 20, 2018 at approximately 6:16 pm officers from the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to the Black Horse Pike, in the area of mile marker 44, for a four car motor vehicle crash.

The investigation revealed a red Volkswagen was stopped in the left, westbound lane of the Black Horse Pike attempting to make a U-turn when it was struck by a black Dodge Caravan (also going westbound) operated by Leonard Hicks (36/M) of Newtonville. The impact pushed the Volkswagen into the eastbound lane, causing it to collide with a green Mercury, operated by Khalid Muhammad (58/M) of Atlantic City. The black Caravan also crossed over into the eastbound lanes after impact, and struck a black Hyundai Sonata, driven by Timothy Pickett (24/M) of Egg Harbor Township.

Leonard Hicks and Timothy Pickett were treated for minor injuries, and released at the scene. Khalid Muhammad was transported to AtlantiCare (Mainland) for treatment of his injuries. The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen sustained serious injuries and were transported to AtlantiCare (City Division) for treatment. Their identities have not been confirmed at this time.

Assisting at the scene were the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, Galloway Township Rescue Squad, AtlanticCare Paramedics and Mays Landing Fire Dept.

The crash is under investigation by Officer Hanley and Detective Robison. This section of the Black Horse Pike was closed for approximately two hours.
