DUARTE WEEKLY CRIME BLOTTER Sept. 02 - Sept. 08, 2018

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of September 02 thru September 08, 2018
 
September 02, 2018

  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target).  An adult female was observed by store security selecting miscellaneous merchandise, then entering the fitting rooms.  When the female exited the fitting room, they noticed some of the items were missing from her cart, and they were not left behind in the fitting room.  The female bypassed all manned cash registers and was detained outside the store by store security.  After further investigation, the female was arrested by responding deputies for Petty Theft.  The female apologized to the deputies for being greedy and stealing items without the money to pay for them.                  
 
September 03, 2018
  • A Grand Theft was reported in the 1400 block of Duarte Road.  Between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm, person(s) unknown stole a $1,100 Diamond Back, 21 speed bicycle that was chained to a staircase.  
 
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1500 Duarte Road (City of Hope).  The victim placed a back pack containing a lap top and $225 on the ground next to his vehicle.  After entering his vehicle, the victim accidently forgot his back pack and  drove off.  Shortly after driving off, he realized he left his bag and returned, however, the bag was gone.  He checked with security, but no one had turned the bag in.    
 
September 04, 2018
  • An Attempt Burglary was reported at 1335 Huntington Drive (Rite-Aid).  At approximately 3:50 am, management received a call from the alarm company regarding an alarm activation.  Upon arrival, person(s) unknown had attempted to pry open the front doors.  After checking surveillance cameras, a person wearing dark pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt was seen attempting to pry open the doors with a crowbar.  When the alarm was activated, the suspect ran off.       
 
September 05, 2018
  • A Petty Theft was reported in the 800 block of Junipero Drive.  A $300 wheelchair was stolen from the victim’s front porch while she was inside the house.  No suspects were seen.             
 
September 06, 2018

September 07, 2018
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target).  Two adult females were observed by store security selecting numerous miscellaneous items and placing them in a shopping cart.  As they entered the self-check-out isle, the females only scanned a few items, failing to pay for the remaining items in the cart.  The females were detained outside the store by store security.  After further investigation, deputies arrested the two for petty theft.  A little over $200 worth of stolen merchandise was recovered.    
 
  • A Grand Theft was reported at 1723 Huntington Drive (Sushi Fire).  Between 11: pm on 09-01-18 and 10:00 am on 09-02-18. Someone stole approximately $2,000 from behind the counter.  The money was placed behind the counter after closing time, with only employees still inside the restaurant.  When management checked the surveillance video, they realized someone had disconnected the cameras sometime earlier that day.  The investigation is on-going.
