On 08/22/18, Officers were dispatched to the Starbucks located at 32240 Dyer Street, in Union City, to investigate a hidden camera being located in the restroom. The case was turned over to the Union City Police Department Investigations Unit. Detectives were able to identify the subject who placed the camera in the bathroom as David Lista, a 35 year old White male from Hayward, California.
An arrest warrant was issued and Mr. Lista was arrested at his place of residence on 08/30/18. Investigators obtained a search warrant for Mr. Lista’s residence and investigators located more evidence of additional crimes being committed. Additional crimes included, illegal videotaping of subjects in restrooms, child pornography, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Lista was charged with:
- Misdemeanor 647(j)(1)-Illegal Video Taping
- Felony 311.11(B)- Possession of Child Pornography
- Misdemeanor 11377(a) HS –Possession of Methamphetamine
- Misdemeanor 11364 HS- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Mr. Lista is a registered sex offender who was convicted in 2008 for Possession of Pornography which he obtained by videotaping female juveniles at a local high School (Mills High School).
Mr. Lista is plumber by trade and may have illegally videotaped unsuspecting victims who contracted his services.
