The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flood Warning for... Alamance County in central North Carolina... Davidson County in central North Carolina... Orange County in central North Carolina... North central Harnett County in central North Carolina... Southern Granville County in central North Carolina... Randolph County in central North Carolina... Chatham County in central North Carolina... Durham County in central North Carolina...

* Until 400 PM EDT Wednesday

* At 357 PM EDT, emergency management officials continue to report areas of flooding and river flooding across portions of the Piedmont. Areas of flooding and high water will continue for the next day or so in low-lying areas, near streams and creeks and adjacent to area water ways and rivers.

* Some locations that will experience lingering flooding include... Chatham, southern Granville, southern Durham, and northern Harnett Counties.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CHATHAM, NC ... HARNETT, NC ... GRANVILLE, NC ... DURHAM, NC ... DAVIDSON, NC ... ALAMANCE, NC ... ORANGE, NC ... RANDOLPH, NC

Instructions:

Keep children away from storm drains, culverts, creeks and streams. Water levels can rise rapidly and sweep children away. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground.
