Flash Flood Warning until 12:15PM

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Alamance County in central North Carolina... Forsyth County in central North Carolina... Davidson County in central North Carolina... Orange County in central North Carolina... North central Harnett County in central North Carolina... Randolph County in central North Carolina... Guilford County in central North Carolina... Southwestern Wake County in central North Carolina... Chatham County in central North Carolina...

* Until 1215 PM EDT

* At 647 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated rainfall across the warned area. Emergency management in Randolph County reported lots of flooding calls with 3 high water rescues occurring as well as up to 50 roads closed across the county. Also in Orange County, Camelot village near Bolin creek is evacuating due to high water. Multiple reports of flash flooding also in Guilford county now, in particular near Buffalo Creek. Flash flooding is occurring! Additional rainfall amounts of 1" to 3" are possible in the warned area.

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Excessive runoff from the heavy rain will cause flash flooding of creeks and streams, roads, low lying and poor drainage areas. Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the road. Many roads and intersections in the area will quickly flood. When encountering flooded roads, turn around, don't drown. Flash flooding is extremely dangerous. Numerous roads and low lying areas will quickly flood. Flood waters will also threaten some homes and businesses. If you are experiencing flooding or live in a flood prone area, move to higher ground. Do not enter or cross flowing water or water of unknown depth.
