INCIDENT: Minor Injury Traffic Collision

LOCATION: State Highway 18 west of Kasota Road, Town of Apple Valley

VEHICLE #1: Gray 2001 Chevy Van

VEHICLE #2: White 2009 Honda Civic

VEHICLE #3: White 2013 Toyota Corolla

SUMMARY:
On September 14, 2018, at about 4:54 pm deputies from the Apple Valley Station responded to a three-vehicle traffic collision on State Highway 18 west of Kasota Road. Through investigation and statements from the drivers, it was determined all involved vehicles were traveling west on State Highway 18, west of Kasota Road. The Honda and Toyota came to a stop due to traffic in front of them. The Chevy was behind the other two vehicles. The driver of the Chevy did not see traffic stopped in front of him until the last second. The Chevy attempted to stop and swerved to the left causing it to lose control and slide sideways on the road. The rear passenger side of the Chevy collided into the rear end of the Honda.

Due to the collision, the Chevy tipped over onto its side coming to rest on the passenger side and the Honda was pushed into the rear of the Toyota. The Chevy and Honda sustained moderate damage and the Toyota had minor damage.

The driver of the Chevy suffered minor injuries which included a laceration to his right elbow and was treated at the scene. The driver of the Honda complained of pain to his neck and was transported to St. Mary Medical Center by American Medical Response ambulance. The occupants of the Toyota were not injured.
