Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a male pedestrian in Dix Hills last night.
Susana Marroquin, 31, of Buena Park, CA was preparing to back up a Penske Box Truck with a trailer from Heather Court onto Carlls Straight Path, when the trailer was struck by a 2017 Honda traveling northbound on Carlls Straight Path at approximately 10:50 p.m. An object from the trailer struck Jose Marroquin, who was standing on the road to assist the truck driver as she was preparing to back up.
Jose Marroquin, 68, of Buena Park, CA, the father of the truck driver, was transported by Dix Hills Fire Department to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.
The male driver of the Honda remained on the scene. There were no other injuries.
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Second Squad at 631-854-8252.
