The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates individuals about disaster preparedness and trains and organizes teams of volunteers that can support their communities during disasters. The CERT Program offers training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. With proper CERT training, you can help protect your family, neighbors, and co-workers if a disaster occurs. The role of a CERT volunteer is to help others until trained emergency personnel arrive.

To become a CERT volunteer, one must complete all three days of the classroom training.

This is a 3 day course!*

Dates:

Friday, September 28 - from 6-10pm*

Saturday, September 29 - from 9-5pm*

Saturday, October 6 - from 9-5pm*

*Must attend all classes to receive Certification

• Identify & anticipate hazards
• Reduce fire hazards
• Extinguish small fires
• Assist emergency responders
• Conduct light search & rescue 
• Set up medical treatment areas 
• Apply basic medical techniques 
• Reduce survivor stress

AMATEUR RADIO TRAINING

Ever wanted to get your amateur radio license?  Well here's your opportunity!  Battle Creek Emergency Services will host Ham In A Day on Saturday October 13, 2018.  This is open to the public; cost is $15 at the door (prefer cash but will also accept checks).  Light refreshments and lunch will be served.  Reserve your spot today, space is limited and seating will fill up fast!

Check in begins at 8:45 for those taking the study session.

Note that this is a self study course.  Study materials will be provided to you.

If you want to take the exam only, please arrive at 2:30.  Exam will begin at 3:00.

You can test for either the Technical or General License.
