Advisory

National Hurricane Center's projected path of Hurricane Florence as of 8:00 p.m. Thank you for staying informed.

Good Evening,

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) released its 8:00 p.m. update on the projected path of Hurricane Florence. The NHC advises that Hurricane Florence is moving northwest at 5 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 100 miles per hour.

Please continue to stay up-to-date on Hurricane Florence through official sources and avoid misinformation spread through social media. Beaufort County's residents and guests are encouraged to plan for potential storm impacts, which forecasts indicate could include minor coastal flooding, tropical storm force winds—over 39 miles per hour—downed trees and power outages.

Beaufort County is not under an evacuation order, all bridges are open and there are no current restrictions on driving. We remain prepared with resources standing by for deployment in the event of storm impacts.

The Sheriff's Office, along with state and municipal governments will continue to keep you advised of developments with Hurricane Florence in the coming days.

Your safety is of paramount importance, we ask you to remain vigilant and monitor the storm's projected path through the National Hurricane Center https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

Thank you for staying informed and for your continued patience throughout this stressful event.
