| On September 11, 2018, at approximately 11:15 AM, deputies at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility (PTDF) noticed that Jeffrey Kibler was experiencing a medical issue while in the dayroom of his assigned housing section. Deputies contacted jail medical staff to evaluate Kibler, who was coherent and able to communicate about his condition. During the evaluation, jail medical staff believed Kibler’s condition was deteriorating. Therefore, Ventura City Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel were summoned to provide more advanced care. Kibler was transported from the PTDF to Ventura County Medical Center at approximately 11:48 AM. Unfortunately, Kibler’s condition continued to deteriorate at the hospital and he was pronounced deceased at approximately 2:54 PM. The cause of death is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau, pending autopsy results from the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. As a matter of policy, the causes of all inmate deaths are investigated by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau. |
