Projected path of Hurricane Florence from Hurricane Center 8:00 am Links to Sheriff's Press Conference at 11:30 am

Good Morning, 

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) released its 8:00 a.m. update on the projected path of Hurricane Florence. The NHC advises that Hurricane Florence is moving west-northwest at 17 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 130 miles per hour.

Please continue to plan ahead of this storm, as there remains uncertainty on how it may impact Beaufort County. State, county and municipal emergency management officials are closely monitoring Hurricane Florence and are prepared to rapidly deploy resources if necessary.

Sheriff P.J. Tanner will hold a press conference at the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Center, 2001 Duke Street in Beaufort at 11:30 a.m. Media representatives—newspaper, television and radio—are asked to attend.

The Sheriff's Office, will continue to keep you updated throughout Hurricane Florence and, if there are official recommendations or instructions regarding your safety, we will advise you as soon as possible. 

Beaufort County government offices will be closed today, September 12th. We will release information on when those offices will re-open. Beaufort County public schools are closed for the remainder of the week, please visit beaufortschools.net for updates.
