On September 11, 2018, at 2:27 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a report of a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Salem Lane and State Road 56 involving a Maroon Toyota Corolla. Sergeant Bruce Vanoven was dispatched to the scene, and upon arriving Sgt. Vanoven began an investigation into the accident. During his investigation witnesses identified 52 year old Anthony Sutherland as the driver of the vehicle. Upon speaking with Mr. Sutherland Sgt. Vanoven detected the strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver. At that point Sgt. Vanoven began a roadside investigation that resulted in Mr. Sutherland being taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Mr. Sutherland was issued citations for Failure To Stop at a Stop Sign, and Operating a Vehicle Without a License in His Possession. Further Mr. Sutherland was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Financial Responsiblity with a prior conviction and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated. Mr. Sutherland remains in custody on a $750 bond.
