Projected path of Hurricane Florence from National Hurricane Center 8:00 p.m. Thank you for staying informed.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) released its 8:00 p.m. update on the projected path of Hurricane Florence. The NHC advises that Hurricane Florence is moving west-northwest at 17 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 140 miles per hour.

Please continue to plan ahead of this storm, as there still remains some uncertainty on its path and what impact it may have on Beaufort County. State, county and municipal emergency management officials are closely monitoring Hurricane Florence and are prepared to rapidly implement resources if necessary.   

The Sheriff's Office will continue to keep you advised of developments with Hurricane Florence, as will state and municipal governments. Beaufort County government offices will be closed tomorrow, September 12th. We will release information on when those offices will re-open. Beaufort County public schools are closed for the remainder of the week, please visit beaufortschools.net for updates.
