Advisory

Governor's evacuation order for Beaufort County 12:00 p.m. tomorrow. Please continue to monitor the storm.

Good Evening,

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster's order for the evacuation of Beaufort County takes effect at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow—Tuesday, September 11th. Hurricane Florence is a very dangerous storm and we encourage residents and guests to evacuate early to avoid traffic congestion, commonly seen in hurricane evacuations. U.S. 278 and U.S. 21 will be monitored and lane reversals will only be implemented if necessary.

The American Red Cross is making arrangements for evacuating Beaufort County residents and guests in need of shelter. We will provide information on shelter locations and times they will be open when available. Please see the attached announcement for information on the Beaufort Memorial Hospital's limited services during Hurricane Florence.

Sheriff P.J. Tanner will hold a press conference tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. at the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office Law Enforcement Center, 2001 Duke Street in Beaufort. Media representatives—newspaper, television and radio—are asked to attend. Beaufort County residents and guests can watch the press conference live through the Sheriff's Office Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BeaufortCoSO/ and through the County Channel at the below links:
