The National Hurricane Center (NHC) released its 5:00 p.m. update on the projected path of Hurricane Florence. The NHC advises that Hurricane Florence is moving west-northwest at 13 miles per hour with maximum sustained winds of 140 miles per hour.

The mandatory evacuation of Beaufort County, as ordered by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, begins at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow—Tuesday, September 11th. We encourage residents and guests to evacuate ahead of the mandatory evacuation time.

Lanes will only be reversed on U.S. 278 and U.S. 21 if necessary to facilitate evacuation. If there is a decision to reverse lanes, we will advise the public as soon as possible.

The Sheriff's Office will continue to keep you advised of developments with Hurricane Florence. We encourage you to monitor the storm on your own through the National Hurricane Center https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
