Family Dollar & CVS Armed Robber Captured By Clayton PD & Sheriff Victor Hill’s Patrol Division
Clayton County is the only metro County that when 911 is called for a serious emergency, both the County Police and Sheriff’s Office responds simultaneously. The unprecedented teamwork and bond between the two agencies gives taxpaying citizens more bang up services for their buck, and has become been a nightmare for criminals.
The teamwork or “tag-team wrestling” as it is referred to by the Sheriff proved to be a nightmare for an ambitious armed robber who decided to rob the Family Dollar on Hwy 138 and Roundtree Rd, and then proceed to the CVS on Flint River and Thomas Rd to rob it as well at gunpoint.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Police Officers responded to both scenes to begin hunting for a suspect who both witnesses at the Family Dollar and CVS both described as a white male approximately 5’8” tall with a beard. Sheriff’s Deputies and Police Officers quickly realized that it was the same suspect that had robbed both stores.
At the Family Dollar crime scene, Sheriff’s Deputies and Police followed a trail of money and the K-9 lead them to a spot on Abington Dr where it is believed that the suspect got into a getaway vehicle.
When the CVS armed robbery went out, both Sheriff’s Deputies and Police scoured the area when a call came in that a suspicious man fitting the discrimination was knocking on their door on Forest Point Drive. Sheriff Deputies and Police Officers both spotted the suspect and simultaneously laid him down on the ground at gunpoint. The suspect who was identified as Joshua Glen Ward was still armed and had cash taken in the robbery still on him.
Although all of the cash from the robbery was taken from Ward, he was still allowed to check into the “Hill-ton” for an all inclusive vacation of facing the wall at Georgia’s toughest para-military jail.
