Potomac River at Shepherdstown affecting Washington...Berkeley and Jefferson Counties Heavy rain is driving a rise on the Potomac at Shepherdstown that is expected to exceed flood stage there. The National Weather Service in Sterling Va has issued a
* Flood Warning for The Potomac River at Shepherdstown.
* From Monday afternoon until further notice.
* At 12 PM Sunday the stage was 4.6 feet and steady.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by late tomorrow afternoon and crest near 20.5 feet by mid Tuesday afternoon.
* Impact...At 22.0 feet...Water approaches homes on the West Virginia side of the river near Shepherdstown, and impacts are also observed on the Maryland side, not just to the C&O Canal towpath, but also to roads and structures.
* AFFECTED AREAS: BERKELEY, WV ... JEFFERSON, WV ... WASHINGTON, MD
