Tropical Storm Florence update: No decision to evacuate has been made. We will keep you advised of developments.
As of this morning, no decision to evacuate has been made. Emergency management officials continue to monitor the storm as it moves west toward the eastern coast of the United States. The Emergency Operations Center is currently staffed with emergency support personnel to plan for any potential impacts of Tropical Storm Florence.
The 5:00 a.m. advisory from the National Hurricane Center shows Tropical Storm Florence’s track further north than the Saturday advisories. Beaufort County still remains in the cone of uncertainty. Higher surf and increased rip currents can be expected this week as the storm moves closer to the coast. Boaters and beach-goers should consider these risks and are urged to exercise caution. We recommend residents and guests to monitor through storm through the National Hurricane Center www.nhc.noaa.gov .
